There are numerous LUTs available, both free and paid, each claiming to accurately emulate actual film stocks. Does anyone know which LUTs come closest to truly replicating the look of real film? For instance, Resolve offers 'film look' LUTs for Kodak and Fuji. When considering film, it's important to remember both the camera negative stock and the print stock. I'd love to hear your opinions and experiences on this topic.

Steve Yedlin’s methodologies are frequently cited for their meticulous emulation of filmic qualities through digital means. For those seeking a more hands-on approach, creating LUTs based on film stock data sheets can offer a tailored solution, albeit with a steep learning curve. Davinci Resolve’s free LUTs are praised for their accuracy, though they require conversion for digital sensors. A popular choice is the FilmConvert plugin, which provides a user-friendly interface and a wide array of film stock options to match various camera profiles. Ultimately, the perfect LUT is subjective and depends on the creative intent and technical requirements of the colorist. Experimentation is key, as is a deep understanding of the interplay between digital and filmic color science.
